Technical Specifications

PHYSICAL

Size   1mtr (length) x 220mm (width) x 45mm (thick)
Weight   4.8 kg (approx)
Efficiency   Open pore volume / maximum water retention capacity = 5 litres (per panel)
Ezidrain has an open pore surface area of 50% compared to perforated pipe at just 5%.

Specific Surface Area   284 (m2/m3)
Permeable Surface Area   265,000mm2/m
Compression Stress   Drains freely under a compression stress of over 1000 tonnes per m2.

TECHNICAL DATA

Drainage Performance   Porosity (based on Vickers,B. 1983 ) was between 35% to 45%.
  • Constant Head Permeability Test (based on BS: 1377-5:1990.)
    Average permeability was 0.00812m/s.
Average flow rate was 0.023 l/s.
  • Constant Head Permeability after compression (30kN/0.0043m2)..
    Average permeability was 0.00326 m/s.
Average flow rate was 0.02469 l/s.

Physical characteristics
  • Compression test (based on ASTM 1621-00-previously ASTM 1621-73).
Average compressive strength was greater than 250kN/0.0243m2.
Only slight deformation was recorded (15mm) by applying maximum load (250kN / 0.0243m2).
Average compressive strength was therefore 1028 tonnes/m2.

Environmental impact
  • Leaching compliance tests (based on prEN 12457 part 3 and prEN 14429). Analysis from Ezidrain leachate was either below threshold or recording levels.

CONCLUSION
Ezidrain is very strong with high permeability and flow rate (the same as gravel and 10 x that of sand) and has no negative environmental impacts through leaching.
